Intelligent glove wins World Health Summit Startup Award 2018
Eyeluminati from India chosen out of 60 applications from 19 countries
15.10.2018. The glove Manovue, developed by the company Eyeluminati, is the world's first intelligent personal assistant for the visually impaired. It combines vision intelligence and the internet of things and helps users to read any printed text without knowing the braille language. By providing haptic feedback, the glove also helps people with vision impairments to move around freely outside well-known environments.
Charité and LSHTM agree on future cooperation
Memorandum of Understanding signed at the 10th World Health Summit in Berlin
15.10.2018. At the 10th World Health Summit, representatives from the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance collaboration and cooperation in global health. The two kicked off the partnership with the announcement that a group of LSHTM researchers is to be based at the Charité to establish the initial stages of the partnership and identify joint research opportunities.

Germany will provide 115 million Euros for the WHO
German Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn announces long-term support for the core mandate of WHO at the World Health Summit Opening Ceremony
14.10.2018. At the ceremonial opening of the World Health Summit with 1,000 participants from politics, science, industry and civil society, Jens Spahn, the German Federal Minister of Health, announced that Germany will be supporting the World Health Organization (WHO) with 115 million Euros for the next four years. “Never before were we able to guarantee such a high and long-term support for the core mandate of WHO.” This announcement is a major step in assuring long-term predictable finances so that WHO will be able to meet the high expectations of the global public.

10th World Health Summit has kicked off in Berlin/Germany

The 10th World Health Summit, one of the most prominent international conferences on Global Health, has kicked off this morning with 1,000 participants in Berlin, Germany. “We are delighted that so many experts from academia, politics, civil society and the private sector are here. Together we are strong!”, said Professor Detlev Ganten, the Founding President of the World Health Summit.

10.10.2018. 2,000 Global Health experts from around the world are expected to attend the 10th World Health Summit taking place in mid-October in the German capital. They’ll come from all over the planet to debate and discuss the major challenges currently facing healthcare provision, access, and quality, as well as the problem of disease prevention. In particular, they’ll seek to streamline coordination of the many different initiatives in policy, science, the private sector, and civil society that are already in place, and strive to make them work more efficiently when it comes to meeting United Nation health targets.
