World Health Summit 2019 - Final Day
WHO Director-General Tedros: Health is a human right, but it’s a right that must be realized through political choice.

The World Health Summit 2019 in Berlin ended Tuesday afternoon with clear recommendations for policymakers around the world. A total of 2,500 participants from 100 countries took part in the international summit for global health. For three days in 50 sessions, over 300 speakers presented their strategies for global healthcare and called for collaborative solutions for improving health worldwide.

World Health Summit 2019 kicks off in Berlin

The 11th World Health Summit began today, with approximately 1,300 participants from science, politics, the private sector, and civil society around the world. At the opening ceremony Sunday evening, German Health Minister Jens Spahn said: “We want to make the European voice in global health heard. The role of the EU in international fora, such as the World Health Organization, must be increased.”

Karolinska Institutet among the newest members of the World Health Summit’s M8 Alliance

The Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, one of the world’s foremost medical universities and home to the assembly that selects Nobel laureates in Physiology or Medicine, is among three new members joining the M8 Alliance, the academic foundation of the World Health Summit. Also joining the network are the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University and the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), a university alliance with 185 members.

Bei der dritten weltweiten Demonstration gegen den Klimawandel am Freitag, den 20.9. beteiligt sich der World Health Summit mit einer Aktion an der Berliner Charité unter dem Motto „Die Klimakrise ist ein medizinischer Notfall“. Vor dem Bettenhaus in der Luisenstraße in Mitte versammeln sich Ärzteschaft, Pflegepersonal und Studierende der Charité. Dort wollen sie auf die Folgen des Klimawandels für die Gesundheit aufmerksam machen und ein Zeichen setzen für die Verantwortung der Gesundheitsberufe.

Whole world could have access to healthcare in 10 years

At least half the world’s population can’t get essential health services they need.
