In 2014, the Ebola outbreak seriously threatened public health and economic viability in West African nations. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, the first dengue outbreak in 70 years shed light on the fact that globalization and urbanization are hastening the spread of potentially devastating diseases.

Without new tools to address infectious diseases that already infect one sixth of the world's population and put almost half this number again at risk of infection, rapid demographic shifts and natural disasters will continue to take an untenable toll.

During the WHS Regional Meeting, posters of young researchers will be presented on-site and discussed in special sessions. Participants of the meeting will be asked to vote on the best poster presented.

As a vivid sign of our support of young experts, the winner will be honored during the closing ceremony.
