Looking Back at the World Health Summit 2014

Experts from all over the world used the World Health Summit 2014 to work on solutions for the most pressing challenges facing medicine and healthcare. Topics include Ebola, the effects of Climate Change on health, Healthy Cities, and the education of future medical experts.

We send our warmest regards and a heartfelt "thank you" to all participants, speakers and helpers who made the WHS 2014 the wonderful event and sound success it was.

More than 1,200 participants and 200 speakers from more than 80 countries worked together from October 19–22, 2014, in the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.

The WHS 2014 was met with a lot of media attention and having about 250 media representatives on-site during the event. Please find below a brief selection of media that covered the event with video, audio, or text features:

Lookout: WHS Regional Meeting - Kyoto

Date: April 13 - 14, 2015
Venue: Kyoto International Conference Center, Kyoto, Japan
Host: Kyoto University
Co-Host: Fukushima Medical University

The WHS Regional Meeting Asia, Kyoto 2015, will focus on the most pressing challenges facing Asia, and in particular, Japan. The main theme will be "Building Resilience as a Social Responsibility of Medical Academia".

The program will be organized along three tracks:

- Challenges in a Rapidly Aging Society
- Preparedness for and Resilience after Disasters
- Fostering the Next Generation of Global Health Leaders

As the representative of Japanese medical academia, Kyoto University has been an active member of the M8 Alliance since its launch in 2009. Since the 2011 earthquake off the Pacific coast of Tohoku and the subsequent Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster, Fukushima Medical University has maintained a close relationship with Kyoto University  and it too has now become a significant WHS participant.
